The Lakelse Watershed Stewards Society (LWSS) is a volunteer, non-profit organization formed in 2002. We work collaboratively on issues affecting Lakelse Lake and its surrounding watershed. We work actively with other agencies on projects pertaining to water quality and quantity, sedimentation, mapping, habitat restoration projects, community education, and stewardship.

Our Mission

To preserve and protect the quality and health of the Lakelse Watershed.

OUR GOALS

To identify current and potential sources of water quality degradation affecting the Lakelse system.

To monitor, preserve and enhance the quality and health of fish and their environment.

To provide options for managing the causes of accelerated lake degradation due to human impact.

To increase public awareness of watershed issues through stewardship.

Our concerns

Shoreline erosion, water quality, sedimentation, invasive species (Elodea), septic systems, forestry concerns, and the declining fish population are some of the concerns.

When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.
